Office Attendance Ticks Higher for Third Straight Week
Office attendance in the 10 metro areas tracked by Kastle Systems averaged 54.8% of pre-pandemic levels for the week ended Oct. 29, marking the third consecutive weekly increase, according to the security technology firm’s latest data. The figure remains just shy of the recent peak of 55.8%, recorded during the week ended Sept. 10.
Austin, Texas, once again led the nation in office attendance at 71.6%, followed by Dallas (62.4%), Houston (62.2%), New York (59.3%), and Chicago (58.1%). Kastle’s data is based on anonymous keycard activity from more than 40,000 tenants across 2,600 office buildings nationwide.
In the Washington, D.C. region, attendance held steady at 50.5%, a level it has hovered around since the federal government shutdown began Oct. 1. The region—which includes parts of Virginia and Maryland—remains below its post-pandemic peak of 55%, also reached in early September.
