Business Leaders Expect AI to Enhance Work
A strong majority of business executives believe artificial intelligence will improve their work, even as many anticipate it will reduce workforce sizes, according to a global survey by the Conference Board.
The economic research group surveyed 900 corporate leaders and employees worldwide and found that 85% expect AI to enhance their jobs over the next two years. At the same time, concerns about employment remain significant: 40% of executives and 42% of workers believe AI will lead to job losses through layoffs or slower hiring. The survey also revealed that AI has already boosted productivity for 87% of respondents and increased job satisfaction for 57%.
Despite these benefits, organizations appear slow to prepare strategically for AI adoption. In a statement, the Conference Board noted that 54% of business leaders said their companies lack a strong connection between AI-driven job redesign and overall corporate strategy.
AI is already reshaping commercial development, with companies across various industries investing billions of dollars in data centers. However, smaller workforces could reduce future demand for office, industrial, and other types of commercial space. A recent report from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology estimates that AI is now capable of replacing nearly 12% of the U.S. labor force.
