Atrium at Oak Crest announces Club 120
In celebrating its recent 120th anniversary, the Atrium at Oak Crest in Elgin recognized the legacy of its history and mission of meeting a community need of providing a dignified home for older adults.
As it embarks on continuing this strong legacy and looking to the future, the Atrium at Oak Crest has created Club 120, a vibrant grown-up gathering place where you can turn a new leaf. It is open for all of the Elgin area community as a convenient place to engage with others through a variety of weekly activities, educational programs, and social hour interactions.
“Today, we see community members who are isolated where there are a lack of opportunities for older adults to meet others,” said Susan Cincinelli, executive director, the Atrium at Oak Crest.
“Many people are not engaged in stimulating experiences and suffer from loneliness, boredom, loss of friends, and other barriers.”
“Our Club 120 has been founded to fill that gap as we will bring a number of ways each month to bring people together from different generations, backgrounds, and varied skill sets, while utilizing the welcoming and historic space that Oak Crest has to share in this growing community need.”
Club 120 will offer programs in a variety of topics on Tuesday at 10:00am; Wednesdays at 1:00pm; and Thursdays with Club 120's version of a social hour at 4:00pm/5:00pm. There is no membership fee and costs for events, unless otherwise designated for speaker costs.
A list of January events includes:
Tuesday, January 7 - Tech Talk with Chris and Jim Guld, owners of Geeks on Tour at 10:00am;
Wednesday, January 8 - Ageless Grace, timeless fitness for the body and brain at 1:00pm;
